3 weeks in... love being a new mom even with sleep deprivation! :o) so thankful for the many blessings that have come!
blessings to count:
cuddling with Gavin
baby smell after his bath
his smile
singing to him
watching Korwin hold him
his baby yawns

Birth Story
On Thursday March 3, 11:50pm my water broke....I was a little nervous, glad I was not at work, and filled with excitement! Korwin remained calm (thankfully) and grabbed our bags for the hospital. We got to the hospital and brought to our room. The nurse gave me some medication to help me sleep a little as I wasn't dilated yet. Around 6-7am in the morning I started to really feel contractions. We had a doula arrive shortly after that named Sundee. She was amazing! She helped me relax during labor by massaging my legs, helping me get comfortable with different positions, giving me ice chips, putting chapstick on, pulling my hair back, and encouraging Korwin and showing him ways to help me....Korwin and the doula were so helpful! The pain was pretty intense so I asked for a epidural which came around 11:00am. The pushing started about noon and went until 4:08. The doctor tried using three different vacuums to get Gavin out which did not work...poor little guy...then she ended up doing an episiotomy which worked (thankfully) to get him out! I have never been so emotional in my life! They brought Gavin over to get cleaned off. He was crying until Korwin started talking to him at which point Gavin just stared at Korwin....amazing...he recognized his voice!! :) We had spent a lot of time talking to him during pregnancy. Korwin was able to bring him over to me and I was overjoyed! Gavin, Korwin and myself stayed in the hospital for 7 days. Gavin has some glucose problems and jaundice...both are stable now...Praise the Lord!! God has blessed Korwin & I more than we could ever imagine or hope for! I am so thankful for Gavin Schmidt!
He is now home and doing well! We are so, so thankful to be at home with Gavin!! We are slowly learning diapering, feeding, etc. We love just looking at him! :) More updates to come....
